Write. Produce. Direct. is a brand-new two week summer program at ATC designed for students who are eager to learn the ins and outs of creating their own content. 

During the course of this two-week program, students will work together to write their own original shorts which they will cast and film with their castmates shot only on an iphone. The goal is to give students the tools they need to film and produce their own content with the tools they have long after the program concludes. With the support of our professional filmmaking team, the shorts will be edited and fully produced for students to add to their portfolios, industry reels, etc. Taught by Alex Wilson, a Chicago based independent film Assistant Director/Producer. Most notably he was a producer and AD for the films: St. Francis, Rounding, Ghostlight, & Mouse – premiering at this year’s Berlin film festival 2026. Between feature filmmaking he works on commercials and television shows such as The Bear, 61st Street, and Chicago Med.

Following the program, students will gather to watch the shorts on the big screen at the Wilmette theatre.
