ATC Mission
To ignite passion for the performing arts at all ages and to give students a platform to use their art to effect meaningful change in their communities and the world around them.
How It Started
At our recent Spring Fundraiser, we urged you to help us so that our school could remain alive and so that we can help those students who may not have the means or access to safe, professional training. We needed your help to aid our scholarships and create outreach programs, and you didn’t let us down! It’s because of you and your support that we’re able to announce this partnership.
Embarc Mission
To cultivate post-secondary success by inspiring students to build their social capital, stretch the boundaries of their neighborhood, alter their world view, and seize opportunities in school and life.
About Embarc
We’re so excited to partner with Embarc because we truly believe in the work they do and the lives they change! Embarc drives academic and life success for low-income high school students through a three-year experiential education program that integrates college and career support, identity and mindset interventions and hands-on learning experiences. Through their engagement with educational institutions, community partners and students, Embarc transforms how schools educate thus creating a more connected Chicago.
By supplying students with myriad positive models of success, journeying with them out of their neighborhoods to directly engage with the cultural and commercial worlds in our city, Embarc lays out the practical steps necessary for students to move towards their dreams. These journeys to other places and experiences are an integral part of the program.
“Embarc increases students’ access to diverse experiences that awaken them to the possibilities of their potential. If experiences are what make us who we are, then experiences should be how we teach.” – Imran Khan, Embarc CEO and Co-Founder
“Partnering with Embarc and having the opportunity to work with their students is an honor. The team at ATC couldn’t be more excited.” – Carole Dibo, ATC Executive Director and Founder
About the Partnership
ATC is honored to be a new journey location for Embarc students to visit! Through fun and informative classes & workshops, we hope to be able to shine a light into what it means to be a professional performer in this day-and-age. Our faculty and staff have long prepared for the journey of what it means to face tough questions with every student in regards to why some have easier access to arts over others. We’re thrilled to have a new outreach program with a great first partner that we can all get behind!
We hope this partnership can begin to break down some of those barriers put in place that make it difficult for a student to realize their true talents and train for what may be their lifelong career. Who knows, maybe a passion for the performing arts won’t call to everyone on the journey that day, but as Embarc Student, Millie so brilliantly put it: “Always go for stuff that you could take a new look on or take a new chance on. No matter what it is – if it sound scary or you don’t want to do it, always go and try new things because you never know.”
“We are very excited about the opportunity to work [with ATC] to empower Chicago youth and have every student exposed to the arts.” – Alegra Gutierrez, Embarc Program Manager
