DIRECTOR’S NOTE:

The world of A Christmas Story is that of a memory, one that is neither fact nor fiction, in which many vignettes weave together in Hohman, Indiana, in 1940, to create a formative moment in a child’s life that feels true, even if the events aren’t. The city of Hohman, Indiana itself is a fictional one and while we recognize that the famous film, which the musical is based on, created one version of that city which was largely white, we look to create a landscape that families of many different shapes and backgrounds can see themselves in and seek to cast expansively and intentionally with consideration to race, ethnicity, gender, body type, and ability.

Most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the following character descriptions. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.

Break a leg to all who audition!
